From Bled, you will go on a 5-minute ride in the direction of Lake Bohinj. The guide will park in the center of Bohinjska Bela village. From here, you will take a short hike towards the Iglica natural climbing area. The guide will prepare all the equipment and fasten ropes in the favored direction on the wall. In the meantime, you will put on a helmet, harness and climbing shoes. Then the guide will do a safety check. You will be able to choose between 40 climbing routes of different difficulty levels, based on your preferences, fitness, and experience.
The guide will tie you on a rope and safeguard you from the ground. A guide will teach you a safeguarding technique so that you can also protect one another. You will also learn other climbing techniques to know how to rappel on a rope, find shelves and cracks in the rock wall, tie a knot at the top of the route and how to climb in the lead. On this tour, you will climb to the top of the 25 high natural walls and abseil down ten times, which requires quite a bit of strength. Nonetheless, you can start climbing on easier routes and proceed to more demanding directions. Alternatively, you can climb the dry rock wall ten times on easier routes, or you can challenge yourself and climb more challenging directions ten times. In any case, you will be accompanied by stunning views of the surrounding countryside and the 25-meter-high Iglica Waterfall, which flows into a small artificial lake.
The activity is available throughout the all year, every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. The tour starts at 8:00 in the morning. In case of snow or bad weather, we will reschedule the tour to another hour of the day or the day when the weather will clear. The best time to climb is from early May to late October. In high season, climbers climb on many protected natural rock walls in Slovenia and Bled and Bohinj area, so there are no crowds at the Iglica climbing area.
The Iglica climbing area is suitable for beginners who would like to learn climbing and safeguarding techniques, and also for skilled climbers who have mastered the techniques, but would like to test their skills on a natural rock wall, which offers protected climbing routes of different difficulty levels. This guided tour is an excellent opportunity if you would like to improve your skills on more challenging directions. However, you must be in good shape as you will climb ten times from the bottom to the top of a 25-meter high wall. You don’t need technical knowledge for this tour as it is more important that you have enough physical strength.
In our office in Bled, we provide you with information about natural climbing areas near Bled and Bohinj and the technical gear you need for safe rock climbing. If you are an experienced climber and don’t need a guide, then you can rent a rock climbing set with the necessary equipment or you can rent a single technical gear such as a helmet, harness and climbing shoes in your size, climbing rope, quickdraw, carabiner, and Gri Gri belay device.
