Traditional Slovenian Lunch: After reaching the summit, relax and refuel with a traditional Slovenian lunch at Koča na Golici, a mountain hut serving homemade stews, sausages, and desserts, along with lively local polka music.
Start your day with a pick-up in Bled at 8 AM, followed by a 40-minute drive to Planina pod Golico, the gateway to one of Slovenia’s most picturesque mountain trails.
Just before 9 AM, we begin our hike along a macadam road and cart track, gradually making our way through rolling landscapes. After about one hour, we cross a grazing fence and arrive at Markljev Rovt, a peaceful mountain pasture surrounded by nature’s tranquillity.
From here, the path leads us through the forest and a sand gully before reaching the Suha saddle crossing, where the first stunning sight of blooming white daffodils awaits. We pause for a 15-minute break to soak in the beauty before continuing our ascent.
As we hike along the breathtaking Golica ridge, we are treated to panoramic views: the Julian Alps, Triglav, and Upper Sava Valley to the left, and the Austrian mountains and the Drava River to the right. The sight of endless white daffodils in full bloom makes this stretch of the hike truly unforgettable.
By 12 PM, we reach the summit of Golica Mountain (1,835m), where a well-earned 30-minute break allows us to take in the stunning views and the refreshing mountain air.
Our descent takes us down to Koča na Golici, a traditional Slovenian mountain hut where we indulge in a delicious lunch featuring homemade stews, sausages, desserts, and lively polka music—a true Slovenian alpine experience.
The final stretch of our adventure leads us through a lush, mixed forest, descending gently to our starting point. By 3:30 PM, the hike concludes, and we relax on the drive back to Bled, returning with memories of an incredible day filled with nature’s finest sights and authentic Slovenian charm.
