The use of a climbing helmet is the ultimate rule while eather hiking the Slovenian mountains or climbing in the area. The Slovenian mountains are structured from limestone which is a very crumbly rock.
-it will protect you from the loose rocks and falling ice
-the helmet can protect your head in case you hit the wall while climbing
-it can prevent minor injuries in case of the fall
-we recommend wearing a climbing helmet when you go hiking the mountains higher 2000 m. Why? Because the timberline ends on that level and there are a lot more possibilities of loose rock.
-Use it while any type of outdoor climbing a rock or ice the use is mandatory
– Use of helmet is also recommendable when you attend any kind of via Ferrata
-while attending the ascent to the popular mountains as Triglav. Since some of the mountains can be crowded in especially in the summer season there are a lot more possibilities of falling rocks.
-to have a helmet big enough. Most of the helmets are adjustable as also the ones we rent.
-make sure the helmet has good ventilation it will make your move more careless
-it is recommendable to have as a light helmet as possible since you will have to carry it in your backpack. (it should not have more than 340g)
-make sure that it is not to tight and not to loose
-don’t take the helmet off your head while climbing

You can rent and return the equipment in our Altitude office on Ljubljanska cesta 1, 4260 Bled. Please ensure that the gear is picked up and returned during the office hours that are currently in effect. (Every day from 10 am to 6 pm)
We understand that many hikers prefer to start their day early, so we offer the option to pick up your gear from our office one afternoon before your booking (until 6 p.m.) at no extra cost.
If you won’t manage to return it during office hours please let us know by e-mail.
*Note that in the summer season it is good to make a pre-booking for the climbing helmet since these are the months with the highest demand.
