Using a climbing helmet is the ultimate rule while hiking in the Slovenian mountains or climbing in the area. The Slovenian Alps are structured in limestone, which is a very crumbly rock. Not only for climbing, a helmet is necessary for protection while walking under the cliffs or traversing the steep scree slopes. At Altitude Activities, we know that packing all the important mountaineering gear is crucial for safety and comfort in the Alps, and that is why we offer you an essential alpine equipment rental.
– It will protect you from loose rocks and falling ice.
– A climbing helmet can protect your head in case you hit the wall while climbing.
– It can prevent minor injuries in case of a fall.
– We recommend renting a climbing helmet when you go hiking in the mountains higher than 2000 m. Why? Since the tree line ends at this altitude, there is a higher chance of encountering loose rocks.
– It is a part of essential alpine equipment rental for any type of outdoor climbing, whether on rock or ice.
– A climbing helmet is also recommended when you attend any kind of via Ferrata.
– While attending the ascent to the popular mountains such as Triglav. Since some of the mountains can be crowded, especially in the summer season, there are many more possibilities of falling rocks.
– To have a helmet big enough. Most of the helmets are adjustable, as are the ones we rent.
– Ensure the helmet has good ventilation, as it will allow you to move more comfortably and confidently.
– It is recommended to have as light a helmet as possible since you will have to carry it in your backpack (it should not weigh more than 340g).
– Make sure that it is not too tight and not too loose.
– Don’t take the helmet off your head while climbing.

The equipment rental is available in our Altitude Activities office on Ljubljanska cesta 1, 4260 Bled. Please ensure that the gear is picked up and returned during the office hours that are currently in effect. (Every day from 10 am to 6 pm)
We understand that many hikers prefer to start their day early, so we offer the option to pick up your gear from our office one afternoon before your booking (until 6 p.m.) at no extra cost.
If you don’t manage to return it during office hours, please let us know by phone or e-mail.
*Note that in the summer season, it is good to pre-book the climbing helmet since these are the months with the highest demand.
