Local Expertise You Can Trust
Guided by locals and organised by experts with over 10 years of experience in guiding tours across Slovenia’s alpine regions.

This walking holiday is for travelers who want to feel Slovenia, not rush through it. Over four carefully designed days, you move at a human pace—walking from one landscape to the next, sleeping well, eating locally, and gradually understanding how life unfolds in Slovenia’s alpine heart. Instead of ticking off highlights, you gain context, connection, and time.
You’ll wake up close to nature, walk through forests, gorges, and villages, and end each day with the comfort of a good meal and a place you’ve chosen yourself. Along the way, you experience Slovenia as locals do—through everyday moments, traditional food, quiet paths, and shared evenings—without worrying about logistics, hidden costs, or carrying your luggage.
By the time you arrive in Radovljica, you won’t just have seen Slovenia’s famous places. You’ll understand the rhythm of village life, the character of its landscapes, and why walking is the best way to truly experience this part of the country.

Your journey begins in Ukanc, a serene village tucked into the western shore of Lake Bohinj. We’ll make the first stop at the iconic Savica Waterfall—the source of the Sava, Slovenia’s longest river. A relaxed afternoon walk brings you to the falls, where you can take in their vivid emerald cascade and the surrounding forest scenery.
Dinner will be served in a cozy mountain hut just below the waterfall, surrounded by peaceful, lush green forest. Afterwards, we’ll descend through the forest to your accommodation in Ukanc. The evening is yours to unwind—perhaps with a peaceful lakeside stroll or even a refreshing swim in the tranquil waters of Lake Bohinj.
After a hearty breakfast at your accommodation, we’ll begin the day with a gentle walk across a bridge spanning the jade-green Savica River. From here, our trail follows the northern shore of Lake Bohinj. If the mood strikes, we can stop for a refreshing dip in the lake—your wishes always come first.
Our path leads us to Stara Fužina, the oldest village by the lake, once known for its blacksmiths and woodcraft. We’ll wander through the village and visit the Alpine Dairy Museum, where you’ll have the chance to pick up some delicious local dairy products—perfect fuel for the hike ahead.
Following a charming mountain brook, we enter the fairytale world of the Mostnica Gorge, with its small waterfalls, sculpted rocks, and crystal-clear pools tucked beneath a magical forest canopy.
The trail eventually opens into the broad Voje Valley, framed by mountain peaks. As we walk through this peaceful alpine meadow, we’ll visit the Mostnica Waterfall before settling into a traditional Slovenian mountain hut for a well-earned local lunch.
From here, the path climbs gently through the forest toward Pokljuka, Slovenia’s largest mountain plateau. We’ll stop at the famous Uskovnica mountain pasture—known for its many natural energy points—where you can enjoy a cozy break with coffee, tea, or whatever you’re craving.
We’ll finish the day with a peaceful walk through the spruce forest to our final stop: Hotel Center Pokljuka, located in the heart of Slovenia’s premier cross-country skiing area and host to athletes from around the world.
Waking up in the peaceful embrace of the spruce forest, we’ll start the day with a delicious breakfast at the hotel. Then it’s time to step back into the fairytale atmosphere of Pokljuka as we hike beneath towering spruce trees. Before long, we’ll arrive at the Zajavornik Pasture, where you can sample a traditional cornflour mush with sour milk*—a simple, authentic taste of alpine life.
Our journey continues to another hidden gem: the Kranjska Dolina mountain pasture. Tucked deep within the forest, this idyllic spot offers another chance to try fresh dairy products* made by local shepherds.
*Not included in the price: the shepherd’s cottages might be closed.
Following the Juliana Trail, we’ll make our way to the Pokljuka Gorge, a remarkable dry canyon carved into limestone, known for its caves, natural windows, and dramatic rock formations. From here, we descend toward the villages above Bled. In Zgornje Gorje, we’ll stop at the Garden of Tastes, a charming local farm that grows fruits, vegetables, herbs, honey, and eggs. You’ll enjoy a delightful tasting experience while learning more about Slovenia’s rich farming traditions.
As we continue across meadows and through small alpine villages, the blue shimmer of Lake Bled will soon appear below us. We’ll descend to the lakeshore, where you’ll have well-earned free time to cool off with a swim, relax, or simply take in the view.
In the late afternoon, you’ll have the option to visit Bled Castle or take a traditional Pletna boat ride to Bled Island—your choice, and we’ll happily arrange whichever experience you prefer.
Distance: 19 kilometers (11.8 miles)
Ascent: 69 meters (226 feet)
Descent: 948 meters (3110 feet)
Difficulty: 2 – moderate
Terrain: forest trail, dirt road, asphalt
After a hearty breakfast, we’ll set out for another iconic natural wonder: Vintgar Gorge. We’ll stroll the entire length of the gorge and back, taking in its emerald pools, narrow wooden walkways, and dramatic rock walls. From here, we prepare for the final hiking stage of your journey—toward the charming medieval town of Radovljica.
Our hike begins on the western side of Lake Bled, weaving through the quiet streets of Bled Town. We’ll soon arrive in the village of Selo, where a short beekeeping tour and a tasting of local honey will give us a sweet boost for the path ahead.
Crossing fields with sweeping views of the Karavanke Mountains, we’ll pass through Ribno village and descend toward the Sava River. A peaceful gravel trail leads us along the riverbank all the way to Lancovo. From here, we hike up toward Radovljica with picturesque views over the Sava River and the Julian Alps with Triglav in the distance.
We continue to the old medieval town of Radovljica, where the final chapter of your hiking adventure begins—one filled with delicious surprises. As Slovenia’s chocolate capital, Radovljica invites us first for a tasting at a small, cozy chocolate shop. Then we’ll visit the famous Lectar House Museum, where you’ll create your own traditional Lectar Heart in a hands-on workshop.
We’ll wrap up the day with a delightful dinner at the Lectar restaurant, accompanied by live folk music from a Slovenian accordion player.
For wine lovers, there’s also the option to visit the Sodček wine cellar for a tasting of Slovenian wines. Otherwise, the evening is yours to unwind and soak in the atmosphere of this charming medieval town.
