The underground mine adventure you will never forget. Join our guides on a 4-hour adventure, as they lead you 700m under the earth’s surface into Mežica Mines. Explore an underground world carved throughout the centuries by our miners, a peaceful and unforgettable kayaking experience.
While Kayaking through the underground the reflection of the emerald water will be the first among many to mesmerize you. Cave Kayaking is a very special adventure that can only be experienced in beneath the mines of Mežica.
Where else to start this unique Slovenian experience than from Lake Bled-the greatest Alpine treasure. While driving towards mines of Mežica we will cross some scenic parts of the Slovenian countryside. The best side of travelling in a small country is that you can see a lot in a short time. Lucky Slovenia is all about beautiful nature which will be our companion 2-hour drive to the home of Cave Kayaking. Podzemlje Pece will be our adventure destination and after a quick look around we will be ready to let it flow.
Firstly, we will board a traditional mining train, taking you through a 3.5km tunnel towards Unionski Vpadnik slope mine. Transporting through the tunnel railway will be the first authentic experience of a miner’s life.
Just after 10 minutes of exciting train drive, we will arrive at the majestic world of the underground.
The second part before we leave ourselves to peaceful Cave Kayaking enjoyment will be the descent deeper into the mine. We will descent another 95 m by foot and meanwhile, observe all the beautiful creations of the underground. After the walk, you will receive al the necessary equipment for Cave Kayaking.
You will now enjoy the peace and silence whilst paddling your way down emerald waters. You will be able to fully witness the underground flooded mine while exploring the tunnels.
Submerged passages, stone monuments and mining sites dating back to the mid-16th century are a part of this magical adventure.
The third part of the Cave Kayaking will be a walk through an abandoned working site back to the train station. Meanwhile, you will really be able to experience the times of this working mine. And as we say there is no real experience if you don’t have a decent lunch. So after a hard day work, there will be a miners lunch waiting for you in one of the tunnels. Last but not least before it is time to go back to Lake Bled, you can throw back time with miners museums and sum up all the impressions of the day.

What is good to know before going on Cave kayaking?
⇒ You need to have an ID or passport with you because we cross the Austrian border.
⇒ It is about 2 hours of driving to the starting point (from Bled). If you have car sickness, let
us know.
⇒ The trip will last approximately 10 hours.
⇒ In the caves, there is a constant temperature of 10 degrees so make sure that you are
dressed appropriately.
⇒Let the guide know if you have any health issues. ❤️
⇒The tour operates in most weather conditions.
⇒If you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol, you are not allowed to join us on the
tour.
⇒ Not recommended for pregnant women.

How long before do I need to book the activity?
Since it is a unique activity the booking is recommended at least 2 weeks before attending the Cave kayaking.
When do we start the Cave Kayaking adventure from Lake Bled?
We start from Lake Bled at 6:30 am or 8:30 am.
Do we need any lunch or snacks during the activity?
You can take some snacks with you for before and after the Cave Kayaking.
Is food included in the price?
Yes, food is included in the price of Cave Kayaking. You get a typical miners lunch cold cuts with salami and cheese.

What is the temperature in the mine?
The temperature in the mines during all year is 10 degrees also the mines are humid.
What do I need to wear for this activity?
While visiting the mines make sure you are dressed for humid conditions with temperature 10 degrees. We recommend wearing comfortable clothes (with long sleeves) and sports shoes (with good traction).
What equipment do I get for Cave kayaking?
You get the neoprene suit, helmet, headlamp, boots, paddle, and kayak.
How many people go to one Kayak?
The kayaks are big enough for three people to peddle. The Cave Kayaking adventure is performed with two to three people in one kayak.
