The Multi-Day Haute Route Ski Tour Adventure: Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Preparation
- Drive from Ljubljana to Chamonix (approximately 8 hours).
- Briefing to discuss weather forecasts, snow conditions, and safety procedures.
- Equipment check and preparation for the upcoming adventure.
- Stroll through downtown Chamonix and enjoy local cuisine and famous Chamonix beer.
Day 2: Grand Montet to Trient Hut
- Start from Argentière via cable car to Lognan (2,100m).
- Ski across Argentière Glacier to Col de Passon (3,020m).
- Cross the Tour Glacier with stunning views of Aiguille du Chardonnet.
- Traverse to Col du Tour (3,281m) and descend to Trient Hut (3,170m).
Day 3: Trient to Prafleuri Hut via Verbier
- Ski down Trient Glacier to Champex Lac, followed by a taxi to Verbier.
- Ascend via ski lifts to Mont Fort (3,329m).
- Traverse the Grand Desert Glacier and summit Rosablanche (3,336m).
- Descend to Prafleuri Hut (2,657m) for the night.
Day 4: Prafleuri to Dix Hut
- Warm up with a short ascent to Col des Roux (2,780m).
- Ski along Lac de Dix and ascend to Dix Hut (2,928m) with views of Pigne d’Arolla.
Day 5: Dix Hut to Vignette Hut
- Ascend to Pigne d’Arolla (3,796m), the highest point of the tour.
- Enjoy a 360° view of the Central Alps.
- Descend to Vignette Hut for a much-needed rest.
Day 6: The “King’s Stage” to Zermatt
- Cover 30km through three cols: Col de l’Eveque (3,386m), Col du Mont Brule (3,218m), and Col Valpelline (3,562m).
- Ski beneath the iconic north face of the Matterhorn to Zermatt.
- Celebrate with lunch and a well-deserved beer before returning to Chamonix.
Day 7: Departure
- Return to Ljubljana with incredible memories of an epic ski touring adventure.
Essential Information
- Daily Activity: Skiing and climbing for 5-7 hours daily, with up to 10 hours on the final day. Ascents range from 800-1,300 vertical metres.
- Skill Development: Learn or refresh winter mountaineering skills, including using an ice axe and crampons, avalanche rescue, and navigating crevassed terrain.
- Accommodation: Mountain huts with half-board (dinner and breakfast). Bring additional snacks like energy bars and dried fruits.
- Insurance: Medical insurance covering helicopter rescue is required.
- Equipment: If needed, we can assist with rentals or purchase advice.
Safety and Flexibility
- In case of severe weather, high avalanche danger, or other hazards, the tour may be relocated, postponed, or cancelled for your safety.
- Routes and goals may be adjusted based on group dynamics and weather conditions.
