One of the first activities we can think about what you can do in Slovenia is hiking. And wandering around this diverse country means a lot of hiking in beautiful pristine nature. While a road takes you to Bled one of the must-see destinations in Slovenia. Next, you will probably come to the Triglav national park and furthermore to the Julian Alps. All these places are more or less explorable on foot, in fact, we recommend you to take a hike at any opportunity you get. This way you would be able to reach the remote but jet most amazing places in this alpine region.
To explore the mountain world on foot, the first thing is first: you have to have good hiking shoes. As we know these can be a heavy piece of equipment for you to carry around we offer you to rent hiking shoes with us and carelessly experience the beauty of Alps.
A good pair of hiking shoes will take you far and keep your feet happy.
There are a lot of different types of trekking shoes and choosing the right ones depends on what would you need them for.
Normal low-cut hiking shoes we recommend for light day walks on the lower parts of the mountains. These trekking shoes usually have good traction but do not protect your ankle. Therefore this kind of trekking shoes is not suitable for high mountains where you can easily sprain your ankle.
Mid to high-cut model hiking shoes are suitable for longer hikes. These offer enough support for tired feet in case you take a multi-day hike. That kind of model can also do some short hikes on the rock.
Mountaineering shoes are made especially for mountaineering on the rock. The high cut offers excellent support around the ankle.
Trekking shoes should fit everywhere and should not be tight beside that there needs to be some space to wiggle your toes.
Here is some advice on how to try the trekking shoes so you will choose the right ones:
-try the shoes at the end of the day when your feet are usually at the largest.
-try the trekking shoes with hiking socks (recommended synthetic socks)
-once you put the shoes on try to spend some time in them and walk around
-wear hiking shoes for several short hikes before you decide to go on a long one

You can rent and return the equipment in our Altitude office on Ljubljanska cesta 1, 4260 Bled. Please ensure that the gear is picked up and returned during the office hours that are currently in effect. (Every day from 10 am to 6 pm)
If you won’t manage to return it during office hours please let us know by e-mail.
*Note that in the summer season it is good to make a pre-booking for the rock climbing set since these are the months with the highest demand.
