Winter in Slovenia transforms the landscape into a magical wonderland. As snow blankets the Julian Alps, Pokljuka, and Bohinj forests, the excitement of stepping into fresh, powdery snow brings out the child in all of us. While walking through a snowy paradise is thrilling, even short distances can be challenging without the right gear. That’s why we strap on snowshoes, making each step effortless as we explore the crisp, untouched trails—an experience that feels almost like walking on water. In our office in Bled, you can find all sorts of alpine equipment rental, even the specific mountaineering gear that is essential for your type of hiking.

Why use the showshoes?
– Easier Walking on Snow: Snowshoes distribute your weight over a larger surface, preventing you from sinking into deep snow.
– Better Stability & Safety: They provide extra grip and balance, reducing the risk of slipping on icy or uneven terrain.
– Access to Remote Areas: Snowshoes allow you to explore untouched winter landscapes that would be difficult to reach on foot.
– Less Effort, More Fun: Walking with snowshoes requires less energy than trudging through deep snow, making winter hikes more enjoyable.
– Versatile & Beginner-Friendly: Suitable for all fitness levels, snowshoeing is a great way to experience winter adventures without needing advanced skills.
How do you put snowshoes on?
Snowshoes are very easy to attach to every hiking shoe, no matter the size. You step on a middle of a snowshoe, and then adjust the straps to fit your foot tight, but not too tight. But don’t worry, when you rent the snowshoes in our office, we will show you how to use them.
How do you walk in snowshoes?
The rule is called “small, wide, and high”.
– “Small” means that you make smaller steps, one foot after another.
– “Wide” means that your legs are spread a bit wider than usual, so you don’t trip over the snowshoes.
– “High” means that you lift your knees higher, so you avoid collecting snow on your shoes.
– Walking backwards is not possible in deep snow, so keep in mind that whenever you need to turn, you should slowly turn your feet in the direction you want to go.
