Debela Peč: Panoramic Julian Alps Hike
Debela Peč Hike: Panoramic Day Hike in Slovenia
The Debela Peč hike is the easiest way to stand on a real 2,014-metre Alpine summit and arguably the most rewarding panoramic hike in Slovenia. Starting from the Pokljuka Plateau, just 30 minutes from Bled, this guided day hike climbs steadily through spruce forest and open mountain pasture to a grassy summit with a true 360° view: Mt Triglav directly ahead, the peaks of the Julian Alps to the west, and the Karavanke ridge marking the Austrian border to the east. On a clear day you can even pick out Lake Bled far below and the Ljubljana plain beyond.
Hiking in seven Triglav Lakes valley
The Seven Triglav Lakes valley is an outstanding, beautiful and remote high-mountain valley in the heart of the Julian Alps. It’s characterised by many smaller lakes surrounded by an otherworldly mountain landscape. No wonder it lies in the core part of Triglav National Park. Actually, the park history started there. The seven Triglav Lakes valley was so pristine and wild that they decided it needed to be kept that way, so it became protected back in 1926.

Triglav from the last cabin to the peak and back
This trip is recommended for those who would like to save some money and already have experience in mountaineering. You will hike to the last hut by yourself. The mountain guide will pick you up at the hut and take you safely to the summit and back. Safe yet still an adventurous way to hike.
