All You Need to Know about Camping Bohinj
Want to spend a night in a tent? Visit camping Bohinj, located in the Triglav national park. Read the article for the best review about the camps in the area.
Camping Bohinj offers two different camps near the lake, in the central part of the Triglav National Park.
- Camp Bohinj Zlatorog: lying on the west coast of the lake, in its immediate vicinity. The campsite is located in the village of Ukanc, which is 4.5 kilometers away from Ribčev Laz. The lower gondola station that can take you to Vogel is only 300 meters away from the campsite.
- Camp Bohinj Danica lies in nature along the Sava Bohinjka River near the town of Bohinjska Bistrica, which is only 3 kilometers away from the lake.
Camp Bohinj Zlatorog
Zlatorog two-star camp lies in the protected area of Triglav National Park, where spatial interventions are restricted, which is why this area gives an excellent opportunity for Eco camping. Accommodation in this area also offers you a good starting point for taking trips to the Savica Waterfall, Mostnica basins, Vogel and for a hiking tour around the seven Triglav lakes.
The operating season for camping Bohinj Lake in Zlatorog is open from the 1th of April to 15th of October. The campsite can accommodate 700 guests at once, with full occupancy during the summer months. Dogs are also welcome on the campground, who have a free stay at no extra cost.
It is not possible to make a reservation.
Pitch features
The campground area extends over 5 hectares. It is divided into two parts or two zones, which differ in price and in their distance from the lake`s shore.
- Zone A: next to the lake`s shore
- Zone B: on the eastern side of the campsite
Standard plots are designed for motorhomes and campers, while unmarked areas are more suitable for guests with tents. Around 100 pitches have hookups for electricity, thus these marked and numbered pitches are more suitable for guests with vehicles.
For camping Bohinj in Zlatorog, you don’t need your own tent since you can rent it at the reception desk. In all seasons, the rental price for a tent for 3 or 4 people is 15 euros.
Camp facilities
The campsite Zlatorog provides its guests with well-maintained facilities for the most comfortable experience in alpine nature. Facilities can be found throughout the campground.
- 8 sanitary facilities for men and 8 sanitary facilities for women, including separate showers and toilets
- A dryer and washing machine
- Motorhome service point with gray and black water disposal
- A place for washing-up kitchenware
- Wi-Fi
For guests with campers and motorhomes, camping Bohinj in Zlatorog is especially convenient, since electric boxes are equally arranged throughout the A zone. In the B zone, there is one electric box next to the restaurant.
Reception
The reception is open every day between 7:45 and 22:00 hours during the summer months. In the low season, the opening hours are adjusted to guest reservations. When you check in you can borrow extension cords and adapters for the entire time of your camping Bohinj accommodation.
Parking
In front of the campsite, there is a big parking area with 200 parking lots, available for camp’s guests.
Beach
The lake beach is only 50 meters away from the campsite. You can diversify your Bohinj camping holidays by taking a boat ride, as on the lake’s beach there is the last stop for boats that cruise on the lake.
Restaurant and bar
The restaurant, overlooking the lake, is open between 12:00 and 21:30 hours and the bar within the restaurant is open between 08:00 and 22:00 hours. The small bakeshop offers baked pastries and bread goods to Bohinj camping guests in Zlatorog.
Children’s playground
Children will enjoy Lake Bohinj camping as here they can find many fun activities. Swings, slides, and a children’s climbing wall are located within the campsite Zlatorog. In the immediate vicinity, there is also an interactive learning trail or so-called fairytale land.
Sport facilities
In the campground area, you can play table tennis. You can diversify your vacations with cycling, as you can rent a bike at the reception. In the boathouse by the lake, you can also rent a small boat, canoe, and kayaks.
Prices for camping Bohinj in Zlatorog
Prices for camping Bohinj Lake vary depending on the season and the selected pitch or zone. From the 12th of June till the 6 of September, prices range from 13,50 euro to 16 euro per person.
In the out of season months, prices remain the same (11 euro), regardless of the zone in which you are staying. Price discounts apply to children aged between 7 to 14 years. Accommodation for children under age of 7 is free of charge. Learn more about the prices on their website.
Camp Bohinj Danica
The four-star Danica camp is only a few hundred meters away from the town’s center of Bohinjska Bistrica, so guests can have easy access to the nearby shops, restaurants, health center and water park. However, the campsite also lies by the Sava Bohinjka River, so it offers an excellent opportunity to enjoy the alpine nature.
The family-friendly campsite is open all year round. Dogs are welcome to stay at the campground. The campsite also received a certificate for ECO camping Bohinj, as all projects and services are carried out in accordance with the nature conservation.
Pitch features
Campground Danica stretches over 4,5 hectares of land, where it can accommodate 700 guests. All surfaces for camping Bohinj in Danica are easily accessible, leveled and grassy, and therefore provide easy access also for people with disabilities. On their website, you can book your plot on an interactive map.
Around 200 pitches, both those in unmarked areas and those with hookups for electricity, are placed under treetops, by the river, or near the reception and playgrounds. The pitches are divided into the following zones:
- Zone Premium: by the river
- Zone A: 100 meters away from the river
- Zone B: on grassy areas
The campsite Danica also offers a tent rental for camping Bohinj in zone B. In all seasons, the rental price for a tent is 15 euro per person for an overnight stay.
Camp equipment
Electric boxes are distributed across all marked areas on the campground. If you would like to explore the surroundings by car, during your camping Bohinj Lake holidays, you can rent an electric car in the campsite. Inside the campground, you will also find an electric filling station.
Modern and renovated campsite equipment include:
- Fully equipped and heated sanitary facilities, including toilets for children and people with disabilities. You can also rent a private bathroom. All showers have warm water.
- A dryer and a washing machine
- Motorhome service point with gray and black water disposal
- A place for washing-up kitchenware
- Ironing table and iron
- Free Wi-Fi
Reception
During the summer season, the reception is open all day. Out of season, the opening hours are adjusted to the number of guests.
Restaurant Danica
Restaurant Danica is located inside the campsite. It offers seasonal and traditional Slovenian dishes that are prepared from local ingredients. The restaurant also offers lunch hours from 10 am to 12:30 pm. During the low season, camp Danica also offers the possibility for Bohinj camping with half board accommodation, where the restaurant will serve you with delicious breakfast and dinner.
Children’s playground
Lake Bohinj camping in Danica campground also includes many fun activities for children. Inside the campsite, there is a large wooden playground, where in the summer months they prepare children’s programs with various workshops and events. There is also a small playground at the camp’s entrance. Children will also enjoy water activities by the river with a natural bathing place.
Sport facilities
The Danica campsite, located just next to the cycle lane, has been certified as a cycling-friendly campsite. Bike rental is available for camping Bohinj guests. Cyclists can also use the bike shed.
Athletics hall for playing football or basketball is located directly next to the campsite. Within the campground, there are the following sports facilities available:
- Tennis courts
- Table tennis
- Badminton and volleyball court
Prices for camping Bohinj in Danica campsite
The campsite accepts bookings for at least 3 nights or more, where an only one-night stay charges 20 percent more. For stays over 7 days, you get a 10 percent discount. Prices vary depending on the season, while they remain the same for all zones and pitches.
During the summer season, prices for staying in Premium zone, zone A and zone B range between 13,60 and 18 euro. During the low season, prices are between 9,50 and 11,50 euro per person for an overnight stay. 25 to 30 percent discounts apply to children aged between 7 and 14 years. Accommodation for children under the age of 7 is free of charge.
