8. Day – Ljubljana, the vibrant capital city

10. Day – a visit to Ptuj town with rich cultural heritage

Climb up to the almost 1,000-year-old Ptuj Castle, standing on a hill, and enjoy breathtaking views of Ptuj Lake, the largest artificial lake in the country. There is also a Regional Museum in the castle, where you can see various collections of former castle objects. If you are in town during the famous carnival in February, dress up in a masquerade costume and recall the arrival of spring with kurenti, traditional carnival masks from Ptuj.
In Ptuj you can also visit the famous Ptuj wine cellar in the cellars of the Minorite monastery. Ptuj has a long vineyard tradition with planted vines on the hills of Haloze and Slovenske Gorice. If you would like to spend the last day of a road trip in Slovenia actively, you can climb the Ptujska Hill, which is 10 kilometers away from the city. At the top of the hill stands the mighty Basilica of the Blessed Virgin Mary, consecrated by Pope Benedict XVI.

The best thing ever. I took my old boss to experience Slovenia in one day. And boy I am happy I chose Altitude Activities to do so. Our tour guide Jerry was awesome, funny and you could just see he knows what he is doing. We went to the canyon of Jermanka and even though there is a drop almost 45m high we felt extremely safe.
